Philosophy and Approach to Treatment

It has been Dr. Ridley’s vision to provide a health facility that will meet the true needs of the community. Her impression is that there is a large majority of people who feel that their medical problems are not being adequately addressed by our conventional medical system. She feels the underlying problem with our present standard of care is that it is treating the symptoms of disease and not addressing the causes.

Philosophy and Approach to Treatment This is not to imply that traditional medical treatment never works. There are many good and beneficial aspects to conventional medicine, such as its emphasis on preventative screenings and its approach to acute medical problems, such as emergency medicine, trauma, acute infections, respiratory difficulties, and various surgical procedures. In these kinds of situations, relieving symptoms is paramount.

But the problem arises when this acute care model is used to treat chronic medical conditions, and in the rush to relieve symptoms, the underlying pathology driving the disease process is not addressed. The therapies at LiveWell are always directed toward the underlying processes that result in disease. Dr. Ridley’s approach is integrative, and she is happy to work with her patients’ other physicians in a team-based approach to achieve optimal health for her patients.

Dr. Ridley combines information from the specialties of nutritional medicine, chiropractic manipulative medicine, and functional medicine to address her patients’ needs. The goal is to understand the root of the problems the patient is experiencing, and she individualizes the assessment to evaluate the patient’s unique requirements.

In her years of clinical practice, Dr. Ridley has seen the consciousness of the community steadily evolve. A growing number of people see flaws in the present system, and are suffering from its shortcomings. She believes there are many who are looking for a practitioner who will address their problems at a causative level. It is those reasons that prompted her to open LiveWell, where the emphasis is finding the health of the individual, not solely treating their disease. Dr. Ridley believes that this is the future of medical care – to address medical issues from a complete perspective, which includes physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. The desperate need for this kind of care will only increase.
