What is SCENAR?

SCENAR (Self-Controlled Energy Neuro-Adaptive Regulator) is a medical technology originally developed for the Russian space program. Completely non-invasive, SCENAR delivers gentle, therapeutic electro-stimulation, onto and through the skin, to prompt the body’s natural adaptive response for the relief of acute and chronic pain and physical dysfunction. Essentially, the device assists the brain’s ability to initiate the healing response most suitable to each person.

SCENAR therapy is a form of “reflex biofeedback,” which involves detecting and interpreting the internal neural communication within the body, then helps the body correctly evaluate an injury or other problem area.

The SCENAR Device

The SCENAR device sends out a series of electrical signals through the skin and measures the response. Each signal is only sent out when a change, in response to the previous signal, is recorded in the electrical properties of the skin.

SCENAR treatment acts as a catalyst to prompt the body to produce the right healthy chemicals (called “regulatory peptides”) it needs.

These peptides reestablish the body’s natural physiological state and are responsible for the healing process. As these peptides last up to several hours, the healing process will continue long after the treatment is over.

As a result, you may end up feeling some of the after effects for a few hours after the treatment, but this is normal, and is indicative that the body is undertaking steps to heal itself.

During the treatment, Dr. Ridley will be “brushing” the device over your skin, and asking about the types of sensations you’re feeling.

The SCENAR device works through the skin (transdermal) and uses computer-modulated, electrical impulses to stimulate the brain (electroneuro-stimulator).

Because of its unique, computer controlled biofeedback capabilities and ability to stimulate Neuropeptide (small molecules used by neurons to communicate with each other) generation, the SCENAR achieves excellent healing results.

Frequently Asked Questions

SCENAR FAQ

Q: What is the simple explanation of how a SCENAR device works?

The SCENAR is a non-invasive, safe method of relieving pain by stimulating the central nervous system using gentle biofeedback. The device re-educates and encourages the body to powerfully use its own internal pharmacy of bioactive substances, especially neuro-peptides. SCENAR therapy in not simply one-way communication like most electro-therapies. SCENAR tunes into the body’s nervous system biofeedback and it understands the body’s needs from sophisticated software that interprets the body’s own signals to stimulate the body’s own healing process.

Q: What conditions can SCENAR treat?

A: SCENAR treatments are primarily associated with pain management. SCENAR treatments have a long track record of providing relief from joint pain including foot, ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, wrist, TMJ, back and neck problems as well has headache and migraine pain relief.

Q: Is SCENAR safe?

A: SCENAR has proven to be safe for almost anyone, including children. In over 20 years of widespread use around the world very few unwanted side effects have been reported. But definitely do NOT seek or receive SCENAR treatment if you have a pacemaker or you are intoxicated from alcohol or any other substance.

Q: Is SCENAR therapy painful?

A: SCENAR electro-therapy is painless as Dr. Ridley will adjust the power of the electrical impulse to each individual patient.

Q: Is SCENAR compatible with conventional medical treatments?

A: Yes. SCENAR is non-invasive and compatible with most conventional treatments. Many physicians welcome SCENAR treatment and are aware that – under doctor’s supervision – they may enable you to reduce or even eliminate pain.

Q: What is the difference between SCENAR and TENS?

A: The major distinguishing characteristic is SCENAR “listens” to the body and adjusting its electrical impulses based on what it “hears” from the body. TENS has no biofeedback or adjusting based on how the body is changing. TENS is simple, monophasic waveforms, static and non-specific. SCENAR therapy is dynamic and it is constantly being moved by the doctor over the affected area in order to intelligently find the best treatment points based on biofeedback from the SCENAR device.
